The Holiday season is easily the happiest and most exciting time of the year, and Christmas is right around the corner! Christmas spirit is growing and growing as we get closer to the Merriest day of all. Whether it be the presents, the festive decorations, the family dinner, or just the two weeks off from school, it’s fair to say that Christmas time is sure to bring everyone joy and love.
Although Christmas has its many nationwide traditions such as putting up a tree, opening presents, and watching classic Christmas movies, every family celebrates the holiday a little different. Families have very different and sometimes unusual traditions, and some families make a bigger deal out of Christmas than others do. Also, everyone has their favorite aspect of Christmas, and some enjoy it more than others. Typically, Christmas is more anticipated for children and teens, which is why I spoke to a few students here at Minarets High School about the upcoming holiday.
Minarets Senior Fallon Ferguson explained that she is excited to spend time with her family and eat on Christmas day, which is always fun. “One family tradition in my family is that we get to open one present every Christmas Eve.” Fallon is hoping for a piano keyboard this year, and plans to throw a Christmas party with her friends.
Junior Natalie Medrano is most excited for all the food and sweet treats, as well as her families annual spinach dip. Natalie would like a car radio for this Christmas, and she plans to spend break hanging out with friends.
Minarets sophomore, Luke Little, said that he is just excited to be on winter break. His family has a fun tradition that involves a monkey in the Christmas tree. This year, Luke would like a guitar, and he plans to have a New Years party.
Lastly, I spoke to a freshmen student named Bailey Pritchett. Bailey is most excited to hang out with her friends over Christmas break. She explained that she wants a camera for Christmas, and she is planning on having a Christmas party with her friends.
Overall, Christmas is a time of fun and love where everyone comes together and celebrates. Hopefully everyone will have a wonderful and merry Christmas day!
